To create a successful design, the colors used in a room must be balanced. For example, if red is an accent color and you use it to paint a focal wall, you must balance that wall with some red elsewhere in the room. It may be found again in an ottoman, wall art, a lamp, a side table or area rug, for instance. Keep in mind that some items in the room, such as an area rug, window treatments and other fabrics, can contain combinations of all the colors in your chart, and this is, in fact, a good way to tie all the elements of the room together.
